That is because Happiness is our true state. Nothing in the world can make you happy. The only reason that we try to find happiness in things and relationships is because we have made unhappiness as our default state and you need to go out in the world to find happiness. Yet what we get is only temporary as we quickly get back to our default state of unhappiness. The life, therefore, becomes a state of unhappiness with brief interregnums of happiness. If we just turn the attention inside, we will realize that happiness which I am seeking is actually me and my true nature. Ofcourse, this would call for both knowledge and contemplation unless one is lucky to get it with a simple statement as here. In this default state of happiness, our everyday life of events are not a bother and will sync with that true state, not necessarily it is ideal, but with an understanding that temporary changing events will not affect my true state. There could be an interregnum occasionally that may disturb that pure state resulting in some reaction of unhappiness but that would be brief and passing.
