The Mind

Mind is both the greatest gift and the worst enemy of the ‘EGO I”.  It’s only through Mind one can make a living in this world, and it is the only instrument through which knowledge of one’s True Self is gained.

From childhood, societal upbringing, conditions the mind to prioritise making a living and seeking happiness or pleasure through relationships and the acquisition of objects. This conditioning often leads one to mistakenly view these pursuits as the sole objective of life, resulting in misery or sorrow.

Most remain unaware to the fact that there is a greater purpose in life, which is to realise one’s own True Self. When desires dominate the mind, the EGO becomes the slave of the mind leading to suffering.  If the attention of the mind is turned towards finding fulfilment in life and free oneself from bondage, the same mind will be able to deliver that too. Ultimately, whether one achieves true fulfilment or remains bound to suffering depends on whether the mind is under one’s control or if one is controlled by their own mind.

All forms of Sadhana, or spiritual practice, are fundamentally aimed at quietening the mind. By calming and directing the mind purposefully, one can find true peace and freedom.
